The Way to God
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me’” (John 14:6). Many people find this statement hard to accept. I was one of them once. I felt furious that Jesus would be so exclusive. Why could I not have access to God? What an arrogant statement, I used to think.
That was before I realized I was born in sin. Not because of what I did as a baby in Mom’s womb, but because of whose DNA I possessed: Adam and Eve. This became much clearer when I was asked, “Who teaches children to say ‘No’?” This simple question opened my eyes to the truth of sin: we want what we want, and we want it now -starting from childhood until we take our last breath. The sinful nature is our brand.
Our Heavenly Father is holy, just, and loving. He knew we could never be holy enough to be in His presence. That’s why He came up with the ultimate plan of salvation: sending His One and Only Son to take our place and make a way.
Jesus was not being arrogant; He knew that coming before God on our own efforts was impossible. He made a way for us to approach God freely and boldly. He opened the door for us. He became the bridge on Whom we can connect with our Heavenly Father.
Thank you, Jesus!
God bless you and your loved ones!
