Righteousness of Jesus

by

Imagine a piece of paper all crumpled up, torn, and stained. Even when we uncrumple it, it still has traces of what has been done to it. If we try to iron out the wrinkles or clean the stain, the paper will probably disintegrate. There is nothing we can do to make this piece of paper to look like it did at the beginning.

Hebrews 7:25 states, “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.” Now imagine a piece of paper without any marks or wrinkles on it. If we put this paper in front of the torn and soiled piece of paper, we cannot see the imperfections of the former one because it is hidden from the view. The perfect one covers the imperfect one.

It is not hard to guess who the stained and unstained paper symbolizes: us and the perfect Lamb of God. When Satan comes to accuse us before God the Father, Jesus intercedes for us; He is actually “acting for an offender in begging mercy or forgiveness” (Merriam-Webster). Therefore, when Heavenly Father directs His Eyes on our way, He only sees His dearly loved Son. We are there behind Jesus; still messed up, still sinful, selfish, and hurt.

This is a practical way I use to show the Juvenile girls how we can be completely cleansed and accepted by God through the forgiveness of Jesus. No wonder the Bible declares once we are washed by the blood of Jesus, we become whiter than snow. No matter what life throws our way to make us sink, we will always remain perfect in our Father’s eyes. May we believe this in the worst times of our lives as well as the best.

God bless you and your loved ones!
