Peace That We Need
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”(John 14:27).
We all face those days when we cannot make sense out of anything life throws our way. We do not even know what to ask for. One of those days was when I found out about the condition of my father. I was devastated by the news of the decline of his mental capabilities because of Alzheimer’s. It took me a lot of tears to realize what I needed most at that moment was peace.
The Holy Spirit brought to my mind this verse. Jesus gives His peace, but not as the world gives us. His is a constant supply of peace. It does not have any strings attached. It is not based on anything this world offers or does not offer.
The greatest challenge is our memory. The quickest way we will receive His peace is for us to remember that it is always there – unconditionally available to us, just like His grace and mercy.
Jesus tells us not to fear. He is on our side. No matter what we face in life, we can trust that we are safe in His peace-giving arms.
God bless you and your loved ones!
