No Plucking from His Hands
The Bible tells us that Christ has been holding us in His loving hands, and nothing whatsoever will make Him let us go… and nothing is strong enough to grab us from His hands.
I love this imagery. When I think about it, I feel safe. I am enveloped by the Hands that created the heaven and the earth, and everything in it. Like a child holding onto a most prized possession tightly. It is safe and secure, and no matter what, that kid will not ever let go. Our pastor showed us a way to remember what a great Shepherd our Lord is: we place our left index finger in the palm of the right hand and squeeze it tight. The index finger symbolizes us, and the hand enveloping it, our King.
To me, this verse is the icing on Romans 8:38-39. Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ, and since the Heavenly Father and Jesus are holding onto us so firmly, we are doubly secure. Next time we find ourselves defenseless, we can rely on the promise of our Savior.
I volunteer at the local county jail and spend time with the female Juveniles. For the last several months, I have been asking “my” Juvenile girls to make this gesture before I leave. Then, we all say these words: “God made me. He knows me. He loves me. He will never leave me or forsake me. Nothing can separate me from His love.” I hope you will also get used to placing yourself and all your worries in the palm of our Heavenly Father as I have been.
Let us all enjoy the loving security of our Lord.
God bless you and your loved ones!
