Jesus Prays for Us

by

“‘My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,’” states Jesus in John 17:20.

For those of us who feel left out of the blessing of seeing Jesus while He was on earth, this verse is a soothing balm. Just because we came into the scene some 2000 years after His extraordinary show of power over Satan, sin, and death, it does not mean we go unnoticed. In the Bible, Jesus mentions us: those who believe the message proclaimed by the apostles first and then the subsequent followers of Jesus all the way down to the time when we personally have met Jesus. What a great gift!

Just think about it! We are mentioned in the most well-known, published, and distributed book of centuries. This deserves some celebration. Ultimately what matters most is that our names are written in the Book of Life. We can be confident that there will be a great gathering of all the believers. We will see the chain of people who have made it possible for us to hear the Good News of God and believe in His work.

Why don’t we take a minute to contemplate the 2000 plus years of handing-over of the gospel of grace until it has made its way to our hearts?

I will make sure to thank my dear friend, Julie, for introducing me to the Creator of the Universe and the Savior of the world!

God bless you and your loved ones!
